Ooooh! I have an idea!
So, I was thinking that we could have "special" zombies, which are deformed, and do cooler, more dangerous stuff than just moan and bite. Not many, of course, but several which are much more lethal and a major threat when compared to a regular infected.
This could be done in several ways. My favorite being that when the original convicts/criminals/prisoners were injected with the antivirus, they were also injected with a plethora of various deadly diseases to test the product. Since no human has ever endured such a massive conglomeration of lethal diseases, perhaps the side-effects would cause a distortion of both the physical and mental bodies, possibly augmenting one or both with "superhuman" abilities.

Okay, had several suggestions. (Please don't be upset, think I am "bashing" the site at all. In fact I actually love the site and want to see it prosper.
First is the background image is duplicated for me, as well as anyone who uses a large resolution. This is an easy problem to fix though, either use a larger image of destroyed buildings and redo the infestation on it (although I don't see the point as it is generally covered by the forum itself) or you could use a tile background (repeating pattern of perfect symmetry making a flawless background for any size resolution.)
Second suggestion would be to add a static affiliate code section over the scrolling affiliates. Many sites don't want to affiliate unless one of these are present and should only be saved for very active sites that also have static positions you can apply for. (This means members are more likely to see your banner) Also if you have not done so, make sure to post an advertisement on any board you affiliate with and one on proboards support, making sure to bump it as often as you can.
Third I was going to bring up was possibly some type of crude status for all buildings. The important things such as Food, Defensibility, shelter rating, power and a number of other key points could be scaled on a rating of 1-10 with one being none to little help/available and 10 being that you have so much it is barely a thought. For example a prison might have a defensibility rating of eight or nine due to the concrete walls, iron bars/gates and so on. Where as living in central park might be a one.
On top of this you could also have special resources/usages. Using Grand Central Terminal as an example, my friend and I took it because of our carrier status. As carriers we can utilize the underground tracks as quick ways to travel without being seen coming our going. This could be a special "perk" for having that building. Hospitals could have advanced medical equipment and come with generators as well as medical supplies, Any museum would have an abundance of steel grates for covering the doors (for during riots, etc.)
I feel that this could add a reason for survivors to risk their neck to go out for supplies, with each month in real life dropping their supplies/stats by a point. This means survivors will need to go out for food, ammo and also need to post threads with reinforcing their home/base.
the last thing I wanted to bring up was something of an idea my friend and I had when we first joined. Perhaps since our two characters were carriers we would have them act as a merchant/trader of sorts. Using the tunnels to get around to various parts of the city Matthew and Michael would trade various goods with people and help develop (or break) relationships between various groups.

Hello all, I'm kind of an outsider, but allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Ash. I'm one of the global moderators on Plagued, (one of your affiliates) and I've been watching this site for some time now. (I'm also known as BlueNami in the chatango.) I'd hoped to join a while ago, but when I discovered this site was dying I kept checking back to see when it would open again. I hope it doesn't seem rude of me to be posting here like this, but I want nothing more than to see Infestation thrive with activity.
I think to get the site going to start would be a fresh and constant flow of new members and guests. The best way to get that to happen? Lots and lots of advertising, I would imagine. I've done more than enough advertising to know that spreading the word about your site is the most important thing to keeping it alive. I'm also very determined when it comes to tedious work like that, so I would be more than happy to go on an advertising spree on Infestation's behalf.
Also, getting more active affiliates is the next best way to ensure you'll have people visiting the site on a daily basis. I agree with Voracity in the means of adding in a static affiliate section with the scrolling, so you can add in much more active sites to your board. Create more channels with popular sites, and open a lot more doors to new people. Although it can be hard at first if a site is quiet, but advertising a lot is the best way to get lots of affiliates.
Topsites like RPG-D would help too, by adding your site to their listings. You can have a voting button placed somewhere on the main page so members can vote daily (once every 12 hours) to throw the site higher and higher up the toplists. The count refreshes every month, so it's good to keep voting no matter what. Lots of guests check the topsites on a regular basis, so this is one of the best ways to get your site noticed.

I'm not trying to be intrusive, so I apologize if that's what it seems like. I hate to see sites lose members and slow down, so I wanted to offer a helping hand. I really admire this site, sorry if I'm over-stepping my bounds. D: I do a lot of coding and graphics for other sites, as well as helping to run boards, so if you needed anything at all I would be more than happy to help.
I'll still be checking in now and again to see how the site is doing, and I hope Infestation can become really active soon. :D
