With the recent events taking place it’s not all too surprising that people have questions. Where did the infection start? How can I prevent being infected?..all the answers you will find below.…
How did this all begin?
Well, it all started with a nice little pharmaceutical company based in Staten Island. Diamond Corp. Diamond Corp made a name for themselves when they bought out a range of Antibiotics that were known to be more efficient and effective than any other product on the market.
With their previous success in the bag, Diamond Corp soon released a new product. This product would be like nothing else available on the market. Imunnex was a product that stimulated the immune system by inducing activation or increasing activity of any of its components. The product promised to not only build up ones immunity to illness but to prevent illness occurring in the future.
Diamond Corp decided to take their testing a step further than your average ordinary company would consider. Animal testing wouldn’t do for this product, not with the knowing of how big it could possibly be. This product could effectively have made or broken Diamond Corp in an instant. Only the most advanced testing would do. The test subjects came in the form of..prisoners on death row. That’s right, there guinea pigs were living, breathing..people.
Despite the fact that they were experimenting there products on people now and some of which had disastrous results, the Government still condoled it and furthermore funded the company. Morally it was wrong, of course it was but in reality it was one of the smartest things to be done. After all, who’d miss a couple of serial murderers and rapists? In the governments eyes Diamond Corp were more or less doing them a favour here.
After many attempts and very many more failures Diamond Corp believed they had finally perfected there wonder product. Up until now all of their subjects had experienced side effects. Side effects that weren’t for the faint hearted that was for sure. A handful of inmates were kept in quarantine to be monitored throughout and thus far nothing had occurred. The product was safe.
So without further wait they got to shipping Immunex out. It took two days before the product was out to buy and did it sell fast. However, 23 days after the product went out, Diamond Corp were contact by the prison in which there test subjects had been returned to. Something had gone wrong, the inmates had changed. They had begun to display severe shifts in personality and soon it was too late to do anything.
Diamond Corp had a lot to answer for. The collections of infected inmates had not only broken out into the city but were found to have adopted a contagious trait. A trait that would be soon passed onto anyone else who’d bought their product. Diamond Corp had failed and by doing so had now caused a wide spread pandemic.
How can someone become infected?
The virus is considered highly contagious. The virus is not airborne, which means you cannot catch it by merely being in the presence of or breathing the same air as someone who is infected. Infection can only occur through direct contact with...bodily fluids. Being bitten is by far the most recognizable means of transference, but is by no means the only one.
As recorded, other ways of catching the virus include;
1) Being scratched by someone who is infected. By scratched we mean where there is an actual wound inflicted up on the skin. Where the attack is abrupt enough to break the skin and thus expose you to infection.
2) If you have an existing open wound and you manage to come into contact with the blood of an infected person, and the blood gets within the wound itself. Blood spatter is something to be careful of here, because it’s a sure fire way of getting yourself infected.
3) Saliva. Through bites, drooling and even spitting.
Basically if you avoid all of the above, then you lucky person you, will probably live to see another day....yay..
How long does it take for the virus to get into someones system and the symptoms occur?
It is actually uncertain; we do not have a precise amount of time to go by for obvious reasons. It actually boils down to the individual’s own health. For example, with a child the infection would progress much quicker than that of infection within an adult because effectively a child’s immunity is not as strong as a fully grown adult’s.
The longest time between contracting the virus and displaying symptoms recorded to date has been 23 days. However, in recent cases the longest time between has been shortened to a maximum of five hours. The shortest amount of time can be between seconds. It isn’t one of those things that can be determined based on previous results; it can vary between different types of people.
With that being said, if someone does contract the virus they WILL display symptoms at some point so either way..you’re better to be prepared in advance then wait it out and hope for the best.
What are the symptoms?
The infection is known to have symptoms similar to that of a regular viral infection. Now, depending on how the infection is passed can alter the symptoms severely. For instance, if a person is bit the virus is contracted much quicker..some of the symptoms may not occur. But, in cases where the infection is in slower progression these are the symptoms are as follows:
- High Fever
- Headaches
- Chills
- Muscle Aches
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Fatigue
- Bloodshot eyes
More severe symptoms include:
- Skin discoloration/Skin rashes
- Violent outbursts leading from easy agitation
- Seizures
- Confusion
- Paralysis of the limbs
- Loss of sensation
- Personality changes
- Swollen limbs
I've been bitten, is there a chance i could avoid infection?
There is a small, minuscule chance that once infected you can avoid succumbing to the disease. This is not fool-proof and is not proven to work 100% Yet, if the bite or wound was removed from the body. Plain and simple... If you get bit on the hand... You have to go on through life with one hand. As blunt as the answer may be, if you've been bitten..you're pretty much screwed, regardless of this sliver of hope.
I've been bitten, i'm infected. What do i do?
That's easy! a single bullet to the brain should do the trick. It's quick, easy and..somewhat painless..
However... as described above, there is a small chance that you can avoid infection by removing the infected area or body part from your person...
What if i'm unarmed and unable to fight, is there anywhere i can hide?
Hide?! are you crazy? do you think locking yourself and limiting yourself to one small space is really a clever thing to do?..No!..hiding will bring you nothing but attention and the wrong kind. The infected rely a great deal on there sense of smell and hearing, they'd find you in a heartbeat. If you want my advice, find yourself and gun, learn to use it and fight!
