Personality-
There are two sides to a coin, heck some might say there is more. Daniel is like a normal two sided coin in most cases. He is the scientist, and he is the family man.
As a scientist he can be cold, calculative and most of all a risk taker. He will do just about anything to get information on the subject in question. This will often lead him to manipulate the people around him to conduct 'tests' to either prove a theory or to see just how much a zombie can eat before it starts slowing down from the additional weight.
Daniel is the father of two kids. Though he and the wife got a divorced only a year after the second kid was born. This took hard on him and caused him to be slightly more caring and protective of his kids. Though the kids are under their mother's care, Daniel would still stop at nothing to protect them. If it meant some sort of dumb self-sacrifice then he would gladly jump into the hordes of zombies.
As you may have noticed both these sides are worlds apart. It is only on rare occasions that they meet to form one being. Usually stay away and only controls the vessel when the situation is proper for them. The few times they do meet up to work together it is often when Daniel finds out that his family is in danger. When this happens the determination and recklessness of a father will combine with the cold, calculative and extremely dangerous scientist will mix and become an entity that would consider itself a one man army.
If someone should find themselves in a position where they stand in the way of his kids safety he will not hesitate with eradicating the idiot. And he wouldn't even feel bad about it.

History-
Daniel was born into what could best be described as a middle class family. His father worked at a local pharmacy and his mother was a school teacher. Both their incomes were sufficient to provide with a good enough life style, but it wasn't something extraordinary.
Daniel grew up with strong morals. His family instilled into him the belief that family was some of the most important beings in the whole while world. And that you had to go to great lengths to keep them safe because if you didn't you would regret it.
As a kid Daniel grew up with many friends. He was a really friendly person, funny, almost hyper active but all in all a caring person. In school he marveled, especially in brainy subjects such as biology or math. He was extremely good and most people thought that he was a genius. He wasn't as per say a genius he just had it easy when it came to learn such things since he knew to stay quite and absorb as much learning he could whenever he was in class.
Daniel had a dream. It was a dream to help people, and to make the world a better place, he wished it eradicate the pest we call diseases. So his further career choices were obvious to him. But he had to study for those, and as such he did. He spent many years studying. Somewhere around the time when he was eighteen, he got himself a girlfriend. It was the prettiest woman on this side of Staten Island. And he couldn't be a happier man because of her.
In fact they were so happy together that they got married rather quickly and soon started the development of a continuation of their mixed bloodlines, all while Daniel studied and worked. He never complained even in the most stressed periods. Every time he wanted to complain all he needed to do was to look at his lovely wife and every trouble in the world would disappear.
Unfortunately it didn't stay like that. For some odd reason the woman he loved wished a divorce. He had thought everything was going great. In fact it was, what he didn't know was that the woman had been cheating on him with another man and it had reached the state where they were going to make it official. Daniel took those news grimly but lived with it as there was nothing else he could do. Though he fought tooth and nail to get parental responsibility of his kids, and yet he lost. Since then he focused on his job, and the kids whenever he would be allowed to see them. Though that was far from often.
Anything else?- Boom goes the zombie? Oh yeah, his kids and the ex-wife lives outside New York.
Sample RP-
Daniel sat in his apartment. Light was out, door was locked and secured. Curtains were rolled for so that anybody who looked up there would not notice him. He didn't know how many days it had been now. He was running out of food, water and most of all patience. Logically he knew it wouldn't just die down, but going out there would be suicide too. And he did not want to die.
He sat on a chair in front of a table. Upon the table was a knife, a gun ( which had had forcefully acquired earlier this week) and the ammunition. Behind all of this stood a picture. It depicted him, his ex-wife and the two kids happily smiling like a family. He missed those times.
"Daaddaa!" He heard his little daughter yell as she ran towards him. He was remembering. The time he spent with himself in this apartment was usually done remembering back on the times, the times when he had a family.
"Yes what's the matter honey?" He said, he threw all he had in his hand and ran to the door. He quickly grabbed his daughter and lifted her up before she could answer. But she could still point frantically in the direction of the kitchen.
"Mamma! Fall!" She said. And immediately he remembered putting her down on the floor again so that he could hurry to see what was wrong. He entered the kitchen and saw his at the time wife, laying on the floor. She was breathing heavily and was looking like if she was boiling. He knelt in front of her, with a careful, trained hand he checked her forehead, it was almost burning.
"Shit, shit, shit." He mumbled as he looked for the nearest phone. Daniel's daughter came running as fast as she could. "Daadaa, whut's rong with Mamma?!" She asked. Her usage of the language she was learning was far from perfect, but Daniel could understand her. He looked at her, smiled reassuringly and said. "Nothing's wrong." But later that day, the mother would be fetched by the ambulance and transported to the hospital.
Daniel was fetched by to reality when he had something. It was a scream down from the street. He went over to the window, gently and unnoticeable moved a little bit of the curtain away so that he could see what was going on down there. A woman was being hunted by zombies. He knew how it would end. She was tired, but they weren't. A minute or two later the woman realized she was caught. It was at that moment he saw all hope for life, gone from the woman. She just stood there was the zombies jumped her and started tearing in her flesh.
He closed the curtains again. He decided he should try to grab a power-nap. He needed it, he had been up for far too long.
