Looking at her you’d have never thought that Bonnie Lomax was actually scared right now. When all of this had occurred, Bonnie had been a part of a large group who’d’ had each other’s backs. But, over the past two weeks the group’s numbers had begun to decrease mostly due to fatalities and others being stranded in various parts of NY after going on a scavenger hunt for supplies. Eventually all that were left of the original group were Bonnie, her cousin April and her on/off boyfriend Zeke.
Zeke took the liberty to go hunting for supplies again and gas which he’d need to get his broken down vehicle moving again...he never returned. During a night the infected got into the place where April and Bonnie were held up and April was bitten. Bonnie managed to fend them off and took April with her, she lasted around four days before changing and Bonnie had to kill her. Now the young woman was alone.
She had set up home on the roof of a local store, a jewellery store as it happened which gave her an advantage due to the security bars; it made breaking in harder for the infected and proved a rather safe place for her to be hauled up in for the time being. Zeke had kindly left her with his father’s rifle, which meant if she needed to pick those things off at a distance she could. Bonnie also had a few bottles of liquor, some rags, a few lighters, a couple of knives and a Glock which was left behind after Benji had been killed. She had a good amount of ammo to keep her going, but like everything else..it would eventually run out.
She was seated on the roof, her legs hanging over the top. She had the rifle lying by her side whilst she puffed on a cigarette. She wasn’t a fan of smoking, but lately she’d needed something to take off the edge. Taking a deep drag, she blew some of the smoke from her lips and let her eyes scale the floor below. There were a few infected moving about looking for food, but not any packs as far as she could see. Those things alone were easy to pass but two or three of them together served as a challenge.
The raven haired teen stopped, her eyes narrowing onto the street ahead. There was a man, a young man carrying a bag. She leant forward a little, hoping to get a better look at him. Whistling would draw attention; firing would draw attention and not the kind she wanted. So, Bonnie had to think of a way of getting his attention without drawing the infected to her or to him. Flicking her sig away the brunette jumped up, taking her rifle and dashed across the roof, pulling the strap across her chest she let the rifle hang their freeing her hands so that she could use them.
Taking a bottle of liquor she broke the cap off with her teeth and spat it out. Bonnie pulled one of the rags out of her bag and stuffed it into the bottle. Taking her Zippo she flicked the lid open and walked across the roof toward the edge. Holding the bottle up, she lit the end of the rag and watched it burn for a moment or so before launching it off the roof. She’d learnt this trick from Zeke and it had saved her ass more than twice now, those things really didn’t like being set alight. The bottle flew from the roof and hit one of the infected, dousing him with flames which quickly spread along the ground due to the liquor spilling out. She hoped the flying Molotov would have gotten his attention, if not the fire would.
She waved her hands slightly as if silently trying to lure him toward her. No one was safe running around out here on their own. Bonnie waved her hands continuously as she walked toward the left side of the roof where there were some ladders above Zeke’s broke down motor. He could use the car as leverage and climb up that way...thankfully the infected were too stupid to know how to climb.
