Atticus is a real fun guy when he’s not in the middle of trying to stay alive. He tries his best to keep a sense of humor among friends so that he doesn’t go insane from the stress alone. When the mood gets too tense for Atticus to feel comfortable he tries to say something to lighten the mood. Half of the time it’s not funny, but it still makes him feel better.
While he does lack confidence in his abilities to survive to the end of the apocalypse, Atticus is determined to do so. The fact that he’s not the best shot only aids to this lack of confidence, but his training with a katana has given him something to fall back on. The lack of faith in his shooting skills has caused him to be quick to try to find a way out of a situation. Still Atticus tries his best never to leave anyone behind that he thinks he can save.
Before the infestation happened Atticus was mostly a loner that kept his head in his books and collected things from history. Ever since things got so dangerous he’s grown afraid to be alone or in small places.

History-
Atticus Tully McNab was born to Rose and Jack McNab thirty-six years ago on a Thursday. They were very happy with their bouncing baby boy and the first thing they did was take him home to his big brother Mickey. Rose had to raise the boys alone mostly because Jack was a fall down drunk after he got home from school. The drink was Jack’s best friend and what he liked to think of as his secret vice. Jack thought that his children knew nothing about him going down to bars on a nightly basis and getting wasted. Jack wasn’t able to hide it from Mickey, but he was able to hide it from Atticus until Atticus turned eleven. Like any preteen Atticus wanted to stay up later than his bedtime so he waited until Rose had gone off to sleep and then went in the living room to watch television. He caught Jack sneaking in at one in the morning drunk as a skunk.
At fifteen some of Atticus’s friends offered him his first beer, but remembering how his father had been on the one night he’d seen him Atticus turned it down. Anytime his friends got wasted he was always the one that took it under his responsibility to get them home and to get them out of the bar before their own stupidity got them hurt. Atticus had seen how bad it could get when his friend Jeremy had decided to hit on some hot girl. Jeremy had gotten the living hell beaten out of him for that girl and Atticus had run away the second things had gone bad. Anytime something went bad Atticus would do his best to avoid it.
History had always been his favorite subject. Tales of powerful warriors of old were what entertained him as he grew up and when he got to college he decided to major in history. Atticus worked his way through college as a busboy for a local restaurant because his parents couldn’t afford to pay for all of it. That was where he learned the value of hard work and had to learn how to get alone with people like his jerk of a boss. Mr. Wallem was a jerk that never stopped complaining about Atticus’s performance even though Atticus knew he was doing a good job. It helped him learn to put up with people that he didn’t like. That was something he applied to his classroom when he became a history teacher.
When the outbreak occurred the first thing Atticus did was round up whatever he could find as a weapon. As a history teacher he’d made it a special treat for the classes he considered good to bring in a katana he kept sharp and give a demonstration on its use involving cutting through several watermelons. He always kept it sharp. When he realized there was no hope for him getting out of New York he went to Staten Island hoping to find somewhere to hunker down.
Anything else?- Nope
Sample RP-
Atticus sat on the rooftop of one of the many abandoned buildings in Staten Island with his weapons out in front of him. Sometimes it hurt to look at the place and remember what it had been before the outbreak occurred. Everywhere looked like a ghost of its former glory now that the city belonged to the dead and everyone had either hunkered down or escaped. The few people that had gotten left behind were trying to survive and that meant stepping on each other’s toes occasionally. Atticus did his best to avoid coming into contact with people that did stuff like that. Sticking to the rooftops made it easy for him to get a clear view of the layout of Staten Island without running into trouble.
“Who would’ve thought that zombies would walk the Earth… makes Y2K look like a walk in the park,” he laughed at the thought of it. Jokes weren’t easy to make when you had nobody to play off of, but the silence of the world was driving him insane. Slowly and methodically he unloaded and then loaded his Colt Python, twice. Making sure that his weapons were working kept him calm when he was running around especially if he had to go down for food. He’d have to do that soon. Atticus looked at the darkening sky and decided not to do it tonight. With zombies and no streetlights he didn’t feel comfortable walking the streets.
He gathered all three of his weapons and put them up. He hid his katana in its sheath, his python in one jacket pocket and his trench knife in the other. Carefully he stepped through the open door that led from the roof to the stairs. Atticus walked slowly until he came to the fourth floor of the apartment building and started checking the doors. The first two were locked, but the third one opened and he walked in. Atticus drew the katana from its sheath and held it out in a two handed grip as he walked around the apartment. Quietly he checked every room for zombies and was relieved to find nothing. “Time to sleep like the dead,” he said as he shoved a chair in front of the door to make sure no one came in in the night. Then he went to go sleep in what was probably a dead man’s bed.
